ServiceMaster helps Clean up Devastating Water Damage in the Historical Buildings at St Anthony Main in Minneapolis

Posted on September 25, 2013.

On September 5, 2013 ServiceMaster was called out to help clean up a devastating water loss in the historical buildings at St Anthony Village.  The loss occurred early in the morning around 4 a.m.  ServiceMaster responded immediately when the call came through around 8:30 a.m.  Our quick response time did help mitigate the loss but unfortunately the damage had already been done.  As you can see through photos by clicking the link below, there were hundreds of gallons rushing through the historical buildings.  Most of the buildings have original wood flooring and molding.

There were about 80 water damage technician’s onsite from 3 of the local ServiceMaster franchises.  ServiceMaster Minneapolis was represented by 20 water damage technician’s onsite.  We spent the entire day extracting the standing water and moving furniture as well as miscellaneous contents from the affected businesses.

It is unknown at this time how long it will be before all the businesses will be up and running.  When a large loss like this happens there are a lot of people and insurance companies involved.  This takes coordination and plenty of planning to get everyone taken care of properly.

When something like this happens it is important to remember how the businesses and employees are affected.  A loss this large can take weeks or even several months to complete.  The loss of revenue for the businesses and employees can be just as devastating as the water damage itself.  Most businesses will have insurance to cover the revenue loss whereas the employees of these businesses would not have a way to generate the lost income during the cleanup process.  At ServiceMaster we identify with both sides of the affected parties and extend our comforts through the restoration process.
