Dirty shoes can lead to dirty carpet. Clean your carpets with ServiceMaster!

Clean your carpet, because think of all the places your shoes have been

A Poem:

There once was a man who lived in a zoo

Who had a dream about eating his shoe.

He woke up in fright in the middle of the night,

To find his dream had come true.

He wasn’t scared because of the situation he was in

But he could only think of all the places shoes had been!

He thought of lion’s den

Where they had rotting food on the floor again.

Then there was the monkey cage

Where throwing their poo was all the rage.

He remembered standing knee deep in donkey hair

Because she was shedding as if she didn’t care.

As the day progressed he had to give it all he’s got

Because he was covered in slimy sloth snot!

As he was wiping himself off he was going to change his shoes for sure

Because they were covered in fresh cow manure.

After a while, he decided to unwind with his dog Burt

Where they both dug deep holes in the dirt.

By the day’s end he was completely beat

And he had to submit to complete and utter defeat.

And when he returned home there was no doubt

That all he had left to do was pass out.

Which is why when he awoke

He hoped eating his shoe was some kind of joke.

What you might ask is the moral of this story?

Whatever’s on the bottom of your shoes should definitely make you worry!

And if you walk on your carpets with your shoes time and again,

You should have your carpets cleaned by professional men.

And because dirty carpets to some might be a disaster

Our name shouldn’t be forgotten because it’s ServiceMaster!

Help prevent water damage in your basement this spring

Posted on March 10, 2015.

Each year basements flood across the Midwest when the mercury begins to rise. When this happens don’t be a victim of Water Damage. Follow this checklist in water damage prevention for the most common issues.

  1. Sump Pump (Sump pumps don’t last forever be sure it is working properly)

Make sure the pump is plugged in, upright, and clear of any debris that might clog the pump.

Test your pump to ensure it is in working order by dumping buckets of water into the pit where your pump is located to ensure it not only activates but also pumps out the water.

Check the outside sump hose to ensure it is connected tightly and draining away from the foundation. If it’s too short get an extension hose, because you don’t want the water you are pumping out to come back into your basement.

2. Downspouts

Make sure the downspouts are firmly connected and directed away from the property. In some cases get an extension to push the water further away from your foundation.

Ensure gutters are free of debris.

3. Miscellaneous

When turning your outside faucets on for the year, check the plumbing in the basement in case there are any broken pipes from freezing in the winter months.

Has your Sewer or Septic inspected to prevent any future issues related to a rainy spring season?

Check your insurance coverage to ensure you are protected against any unexpected flooding/seepage issues. You’d be surprised how many homeowners come up short when making a water damage claim.

Seal your concrete/block walls.

Make sure the grade of your lawn slopes away from your house. If not it can be professionally fixed.

When you apply these simple water damage prevention tactics to your household maintenance, you will save time and money.
